LaVerne joined Serpe Andrews as a Partner in 2025. She has more than 30 years of litigation experience. Since beginning her practice in 1992, LaVerne has represented countless physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers in medical malpractice suits, professional licensing board and peer review matters.

LaVerne received her law degree in 1992 from Columbia University School of Law in New York. She attended and graduated in three years from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a double major in Economics and Managerial Studies in 1989.

Her primary practice area is litigation specializing in health care, including assisting healthcare providers in their respective board matters, contracts, commercial and professional liability disputes. Her practice includes appeals and she has argued before the State Courts of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court.

LaVerne is active in the Houston Bar Association and has served as Chair of the HBA Health Law Section, Co-Chair of the HBA Judicial Polls Committee and Board Member of the Dispute Resolution Center. She currently serves on the HBA Wellness Committee. She has also served as the SOLACE Chapter Representative for the Federal Bar Association – South Texas Chapter. She is a member of the Texas Bar College, and a Texas Bar Foundation, Life Fellow.
