Margaret Dunham joined Serpe Andrews as Of Counsel in 2026. Her practice is primarily focused on medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, and personal injury defense. Margaret brings more than 18 years of litigation and courtroom experience and is licensed to practice law in both Texas and New York.

Prior to joining Serpe Andrews, Margaret practiced as a litigation attorney in New York, where she was a partner at O’Connor & First, P.C. Her practice concentrated on medical malpractice defense, nursing home negligence defense, personal injury and premises liability defense, professional liability claims, and mass tort litigation. She managed a substantial caseload and represented clients through all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, trial, settlement negotiations, and appellate proceedings. Margaret was recognized as a New York Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of litigation.

In addition to her practice at Serpe Andrews, Margaret continues to serve as a Tribal Court Judge for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Court, a position she has held for ten years. As Judge, she presides over civil, criminal, and family law matters involving tribal law, and conducts hearings and trials on a wide range of legal issues. Her judicial experience provides her with a distinct perspective on litigation strategy, courtroom advocacy, and the effective presentation and resolution of complex cases.

Margaret graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2005. She earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from Albany Law School in 2008, where she served as Managing Editor of Symposium for the Albany Government Law Review, was a semifinalist in the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials Competition, and served on the Moot Court Board of Directors.

Outside of her legal practice, Margaret is active in Houston’s Heights community. She enjoys cooking and entertaining, as well as traveling with her husband and their two daughters.
